The little flowers on our path this morning were really showing off! I guess a cloudy sky after a few hot, sunny days has them happy. Hope you enjoy!

Hummingbird Rhapsody in Blue
The other evening, while sitting outside with my mom, a few of her hummingbirds decided to get brave. They are typically brave when its only her because, if you know my mom, she is Snow White's incarnate. Animals regularly flock to her. But not when I'm there, especially with the big noisy thing that is my camera. The bird's would come up to the feeder, but as soon as I would take a shot, they were off. They did not like the click of my shutter. They would flit around, chasing each other, but not coming close enough for another shot. When they would come close, it was only for a second, as if they were daring each other. Eventually, bravery, and most likely hunger, brought them in closer. I was finally able to get some very interesting silhouette shots, which I can say, I am very pleased with. I hope you enjoy!

The Cows
I have been wanting to take some photos of cows for a long time. Don't ask me why. We live in an area that, if you drive for 10-15 minutes in either direction, you will find cows. I have never been close to a cow in person. The closest I can remember is in the car driving by their fields. I decided to stop the other day, be brave and take my photos. Cows are bigger than you think.
At first, they were pretty far off in the distance, so I decided to take some scenic shots.
Then, one of them started to pay attention to me...
Before I knew it, the whole heard was walking right towards me! I didn't know what to do.... so I ran and got in the car...sorry, there are no photos of that! After I recovered and they veered off to the right, I got out and took a shot of, what looks to me to be, a young bull...
I then saw a shaggy cow, leading up the rear of the heard. She looked awesome...
That's the end of my cow adventure for this trip. I know I will have many more. I hope I'll get to be more brave:)

Queen Anne's Lace Series, Vol 2
The second volume of my Queen Anne's Lace Series. The minimalist aspect of this series is something newer in my work, although some of the images aren't as minimal as others. I hope you enjoy.

My morning details...
This morning I was noticing the way the sun was coming through the trees down an alley created by nature.

Little Details 7-15-13
It's gonna be a hot one. As I was out this morning, the sun was already beating down, heating my skin, and the cicadas were singing boisterously. I have to say, today finally feels like summer. We've had so many cool and rainy days recently, I was beginning to wonder...
All I wanted while walking was the cool shade of a big tree...

Little Details 7-14-13
Every morning, while I'm walking my Pug, Betsy, I like to wake myself up by looking for beautiful details in my little piece of the world. I am amazed that even though we walk the same circuit each morning, I am pleasantly surprised every day with something new.

Queen Anne's Lace Series, Vol. 1
I am very excited to present this series. I feel as though I have been searching towards an artistic endeavor for sometime now. While this is not the end of that search, I feel as though I am getting closer. The simplicity and timelessness of the images feel like home to me. This is the first volume of 3 in the series. I hope you enjoy.

Black-eyed Susans: a series
This series was shot the other day with the sandwich baggie experiment. I think these images really display the romantic and ethereal effect created by using the technique. I must say, I am really pleased with this outcome.
Love the Bumble bee in this one....
There is a visitor here, also...
They posed so perfectly in their dance with the wind...
Face up, to the sun...

Sandwich Baggie Experiment
Today, while perusing Pinterest, I found an interesting article about putting a sandwich baggie with a hole in it on your lens to get creative effects. Well, I've heard of this before, but today I thought "why not"? Let me tell you, I ran around this city in 90 degree temps, giddy as can be, for 3 hours shooting like mad. I must say, I am excited with the outcome. Over 270 photographs later, I have some pretty cool lookin' stuff.
Here's the link to the article and here's one of my resulting photos...
(no worries-many more to be published soon)

Photo of the Day- 3 Lilies
Flowers seem, to me, to have two personalities; one being very soft and gentle, almost quiet with a supple nature and the other being loud and vibrant, shouting "look at me!!" with their dazzling display of colors. The second personality precedes and overpowers the first personality almost every time, with most viewers entranced by the show of vibrancy. Maybe that second personality, I should've described first? No. I prefer the soft, quiet personality. It brings a peaceful calm to the very loud and bustling world. This is why I chose to showcase these beautiful Lilies, which are fast becoming a favorite of mine, in Black and White.

SuperMoon 2013
A couple of weeks ago, you may be aware that we had a Super Moon. Not just a Full Moon, but the one time out of the year that the moon is the closest to the Earth, due to its orbit. I shot some images of this beautiful moon, but have just been very busy and hadn't had a chance to edit. I have now finished editing and am pretty pleased with the end result. Let me know what you think!

Blue Sky and Summer Flowers Series
Well, these photos were taken a couple of weeks ago technically in the Spring, but, hey, they're still pretty:)
I really enjoy the bug's eye-view perspective along with the narrow depth of field.
You couldn't ask for a more Carolina-blue sky...
